The Compassion in Action (CIA) team of 2011 worked hard to provide medical and dental services to 2500 Hondurans during four days of brigades in two villages just outside Tegucigalpa. Our group was comprised of a true ‘global team’ coming into Honduras from the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and the Netherlands. We began our Compassion in Action mission by sorting and organizing medications and supplies. Our partnership with the Honduran governmental staff provided organization of the work sites, transportation and food to help us in our mission. Translators came from local Christian schools to work alongside our team to minister to the people throughout the day.
We had favor with governmental officials, as the wife of the President of the Congress and a physician working directly with the Honduran Minister of Health, visited us during the brigades to graciously give thanks for our mission of love. They witnessed people receiving the gospel of Christ, listening to health teaching, accepting prayer for healing and encouragement, receiving medical and dental care for both adults and children, and taking home free medicines through our mobile pharmacy. Everyone attending the clinics was touched with the Word of God and by caring hands that reached to meet more than just their physical needs. Our team was also given opportunity to visit the national hospital and pray for many patients and families who were in the hospital wards. Many received salvation and healing; we took twelve healing blankets to leave with those who will continue to be healed after our team is gone.
Tom Jones, Executive Director of Global Awakening, ministered in a local church in Tegucigalpa, Ministerio Tsebaoth, with Pastors Jose and Nerea de Osorto. Pastors gathered for a conference, and three services were conducted on healing and releasing the power of revival. Many were saved, healed, and delivered. The Compassion in Action team ministered words of knowledge and healing prayer for the masses during the crusades. We also enjoyed a ‘free day’ of sightseeing and visitation to the “Valley of the Angles”. The CIA team experienced the release of compassion as they ministered with their developed skills and spiritual awareness to bring hope, healing, and wholeness wherever they went, through the laying on of hands. As we left, we knew our ‘mission was accomplished’!
