Impossible Tests: A Prophetic Word

photo of clouds with the sun breaking through. Text overlay: Impossible Tests, Justin Allen

The global Church is facing tests that feel impossible. We are being confronted with situations that we are ill-equipped to solve absent from divine intervention, intercession and a relentless resolve to see His Kingdom come and His will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

From the premature death of infants and contention for resurrection, to the very real and present threat of nuclear fallout due to wars and rumors of wars, to entire continents engulfed in historic fires, and entire people groups in subjection to tyrannical leadership, I believe His will is that these crises will result in Christ in us, The Hope of Glory, being revealed!

Many have noted what seems to be the dire state of the world in which we live. I would like to acknowledge what I believe, prophetically, is an opportunity to fully engage and purposefully step out onto the waters of faith that we have yet to navigate. This is our greatest hour!

A test is not a judgment or condemnation; a test is an assessment of one’s current state of being. After all, Jesus is also our Rabbi. I am reminded of the parable of the persistent widow:

Then the Lord said, ‘Hear what the unjust judge said. And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?’” (Luke 18:6-8, emphasis mine)

Faith is the confident expectation that what we hope for is going to happen. Without it, it is impossible to please God! The bible is clear that if we are to come to God, we must believe that He is, and He is a Rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Conflict will confront unbelief in a way that nothing else can. This is the era in which the Church will pass the test of faith!

These massive events all seem to converge at the emergence of a new decade, a new era in which the world is facing challenges unique to this particular age. But true to form, every age, every season, every hour has a unique grace unto itself. After all, God won’t give you more than you can effectively steward. Which would imply that the impossible situations we are currently faced with are not impossible after all. Could it be that we are being faced with the opportunity for the greatest victory the Church has ever seen?

I hear the echo of the voice of Jesus throughout the pages of scripture:

Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in My Name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My Name, I will do it. (John 14:12-14)

The bible is saturated with promises, implications and testimonies that the impossible becomes a reality when we engage with the power of God. We are literally commanded to do the impossible. Somehow, many have neglected to realize that this will require us to be faced with extremely challenging circumstances in order to exercise this type of faith. It would do us good to remember that the pages of scripture were penned in the midst of some of the most challenging opposition the Church has ever faced. Yet, in the midst of the persecution, wild political climates and a myriad of negative events of the day, they simply preached the eternal Gospel. Circumstances, current events and opinions will never alter this message. This is our heritage!

We stand at a point in time that carries with it the greatest potential in human history to see the global Church unified. The emergence of the internet, social media and radical advances in communication have now made it possible for the global Church to be mobilized in a concentrated prayer focus within hours. There is enormous, untapped potential in this!

Action Point: So, as we approach these impossible, God-sized tasks, let us not forget that we now have access to boldly go before the throne of grace because of the blood and body of Jesus that cleanses us from all unrighteousness. Imagine sons and daughters approaching their Father fully aware of their identity, full of faith in His character, expecting an outcome that exceeds good and transcends to glory.

With every negative headline, news feed notification and prayer request you receive in the hours ahead, remember…

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith, Who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:1-2)

I do believe in everything you said pastor. In my country, we´ve been facing a huge opposition because Brazil had been destroyed for over 12 years through corrupted politicians. Right now, we are in a real change in our politicians, with a government whom isn´t leftism, and those who still are opposition are trying to destroy everything our president has made in just a year. The wrost of all, we still can see christians who don´t agree with these changes and are connected with a former leftism government, which desires abortion laws, marijuana and many other things. By the way, I was one of the translators here in Belém, in YPI 2019,and I was amzed by your preachings, may the Lord bless your life, ministry and family.

Good word! Hopefully, all the craziness will awaken the Church to repentance, prayer and unity. God working through the Church is America's only hope.

this is so spot on! Thank you so much for encapsulating everything that’s been on my heart over the last few weeks. We have seen incredible troubles and strife and also not seen expected answers to prayers but our challenge is not to hold out for what we want but to retain our faith in our incredible God and relentlessly praise and worship him in the face of difficulty and uncertainty. Yes he is wanting us to press in for deeper faith. And the church will rise as the body of Christ and He will have his glory

Justin, I have seen in my own life exactly what you are talking about in your article. I have been stretched to the point that I know only God can come through with answers for me. Once the answer is shown I find it exhilaratingly boosting my faith walk. If I only don't give up before the breakthrough. I have seen the growth in myself through the victories mainly in how I respond to circumstances now more positively versus how I know I responded to similar circumstances only a year ago. To God be the glory!

I wholeheartedly agree. In addition I would propose that we study and know history. As Solomon said, "There is nothing new under the sun." If we know history, we can see the repetition of cycles such as we face today. Knowing God AND knowing what has happened before us can equip us to face our hour. It is indeed our hour.

Revelation 12:11 - the whole verse - ". . . and they loved their lives not onto the death". In standing strong in the face of controversy or even physical assault knowing that what ever happens He is in charge and it's OK. There is always a great price to be paid for the Kingdom. Do we (the western Christian culture) really have or even want that kind of faith and surrender to stand strong in the face of the assaults of darkness? If this prophetic word is to accomplish anything then we have to consider this scripture as a real possibility in our individual lives. We have to be able to look the enemy in the eye and say come on baby! Bring it on! My Jesus is worth my job, my life, my ______ fill in the blank. It has to be done in real love from the heart not just head learning. Ask Heidi and Roland Baker, ask David Hogan. Ask Will Hart, when he and his friends walked into that pagan temple in India what it really takes to see darkness scattered. I have had to come to reality on this in my job on a daily basis and it is so powerful to look death in the face and say "you can't touch me except that My God allows it".

Very encouraging. Let's put on our breastplates of His Righteousness, take up our shields of faith and our helmets of salvation, pick up our Swords and move into the foray with our feet shod with the gospel of peace. It's not over till we hear the angels sing!
