Our Heart

For all believers everywhere, we present an opportunity to receive power from God. We offer ourselves as evidence that God uses the unqualified when we’re willing to take a risk. We strengthen each other through community & theology, and we call out to all those who feel ill-equipped, isolated, and hungry, saying: you belong. To the sick, we offer a community of faith that will believe for your healing. To the skeptic, we offer our stories and our lives as fruit of Jesus’ work. Come receive from God what you need, come learn how to take risks in your faith, come join us as we each fulfill God’s dream for us. We are a global community of believers empowered to awaken the world.

For all believers everywhere, we present an opportunity to receive power from God. This, the first statement in the heart of Global Awakening also represents the first step of the process we all walk through: receiving power from God. In John 15:5 Jesus says, “I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing,” and again in Mark 10:27 he says, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But not with God. Everything is possible with God.” (NLT)

Whatever God has called you to do, whoever He has designed you to be, it all starts with waiting on God and receiving from Him. We happily look to our Father for provision in all things, and our vision as a ministry stands upon this foundation. Without Him we can do nothing, but with God all things are possible.

We offer ourselves as evidence that God uses the unqualified when we’re willing to take a risk. The second statement in our heart is a key component to what makes Global Awakening unique: it’s the “little ol’ me’s” that God chooses to do amazing things. 1 Corinthians 1:27 says, “God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful.” (NLT) Jesus qualifies us for what He calls us to do. It is not our own work, training, or preparedness which enables us to be used by God; rather it is a willingness to take a risk with God. To step out onto the water like Peter did, keeping our eyes on Jesus as we follow Him out onto the deep waters of God’s miraculous power. At Global Awakening, our story is built on the belief that God wants to use you, and we offer up our own experiences as a testimony that taking a risk in faith reaps miraculous results. All it requires is willingness to take a risk with God.

We strengthen each other through community and theology. The third line of our vision statement makes it clear why we make room for community and friendship, and why we offer theological training. 3 John 1:2 says, “Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.” (NASB) We prosper as our souls prosper, and our souls need to know who God is. We need each other; to belong; to be loved and to love. Hebrews 10:24 encourages us all to continue to “spur one another on toward love and good deeds” These verses, among many others show us that our unity as believers is a vehicle for us to mature and grow in every way. Truly, we need each other. In this context, we see the gifts of Ephesians 4:11 given to us to train us up and bring us into fullness.

We call out to all those who feel ill-equipped, isolated, and hungry, saying you belong. 2 Corinthians 5 tells us that through Christ, God has reconciled us to Himself, and that through our faith in Him, God makes us ministers of reconciliation to the world. So like Wisdom in the book of Proverbs, we stand and cry aloud to all who will hear, saying “You belong. You have a family. You can be known & loved. God has made the way for you to be a part of His great family, and you don’t have to work to measure up! The door stands open.” One of the things that is distinct about Global Awakening is that we have an incredibly broad mixture of people in our community. We are not all alike, because we are called to build bridges among the body of Christ. Just as Jesus called theologically untrained fishermen to be His disciples, so we call out to all those who feel ill-equipped and isolated. There’s nothing special about us that qualifies us to be used by God!

To the sick, we offer a community of faith that will believe for your healing. God is a wonder working God, and when you take part in Global Awakening, you encounter a community of believers who will believe for your complete wholeness. This is what family should be, and it’s what we strive to be. In every opportunity we offer, we are inspired by Luke 5:18–25: Some men came carrying a paralyzed man on a sleeping mat. They tried to take him inside to Jesus, but they couldn’t reach him…so they went up to the roof and took off some tiles. Then they lowered the sick man on his mat down into the crowd, right in front of Jesus. Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the man, “Young man, your sins are forgiven.…Stand up, pick up your mat, and go home!” And immediately, as everyone watched, the man jumped up, picked up his mat, and went home praising God. It was the faith of the man’s friends that moved Jesus to heal him, and this is what we can all be for each other.

To the skeptic, we offer our stories and our lives as fruit of Jesus’ work. Have you ever wondered why we make such a big deal out of testimonies? This is why! We prioritize having times for testimonies in our meetings, on our trips, in our schools, etc because we want you to know that God uses the unqualified to do amazing things. Be inspired as you hear others like you tell how they encountered God's goodness and power. Everyone goes through times of dryness and doubt, and we all need to be reminded of how good, how near, how ready to save our God is. When you see your peers testify of how God has healed them, empowered them, and challenged them, you are reminded that the same can—and will—happen in and through you. Revelation 19:10 says, “the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” Part of what this means is when you hear a testimony of what Jesus has done, it is a prophetic message that the same can happen in your life.

Come receive from God what you need. Come learn how to take risks in your faith. Come join us as we each fulfill God’s dream for us. This is a re-wording of the Global Awakening Process, and is part of what makes us unique. Every opportunity Global Awakening offers follows the same formula and walks you through this process:
Step 1: Receive Power From God.
Step 2: Take Your Risk.
Step 3: Fulfill Your Destiny.
Our opportunities, be it events, international trips, education, resources, or the Network are all opportunities for you to encounter God, to be inspired to take a leap of faith in your own way for your own life, and to pursue God’s unique calling for you. Whether you are a plumber, a stock broker, a teacher, or a traveling minister, there is more for you, and we exist to equip you on the path of God’s dream for you.

We are a global community of believers empowered to awaken the world. This is the distillation of all we are and all we hope for. We are pursuing more than a localized revival and are not content with a small outpouring. We see a coming revival which breaks the bounds of what we have known and can only be described as a global great awakening. When you have dramatic encounters with the Holy Spirit in our meetings, they happen so that you can go back home and change your world. We do not pursue the experiences for their own sake, but rather they gain value in how they empower us to go and awaken those around us to all that God is. You are an agent of awakening. All of creation longs to see God’s people everywhere awakened to who they are and who God is. Let us join together in this pursuit, that we might see the world truly awakened to the greatness, the goodness, the splendor of our God.
