The FUEGO ("Fire") Global Awakening International Mission Trip to Medellin, Colombia was nothing short of "explosive" and "life changing" for the approximately 40 team members who came from around the globe! The team ministered to several city churches in the Comnidad Cristiana de Fe church network in Medellin, as well as the Viento Fresco (Fresh Wind) Children's Center located in a very poor section of the city. Tom and Jennifer Atwater, the directors of the children's center, and their wonderful staff served as gracious hosts for our 10-day stay in the City of Eternal Spring.
Our first three days were spent mainly in healing and impartation services with Randy Clark as main speaker. Approximately 8,000 Colombians attended several weekend healing and impartation services as Randy and the team gave words of knowledge to which the Colombian people responded with faith and passion. Due to their faith and great spiritual hunger, hundreds upon hundreds received their healing miracles, which included several notable miracles of metal in joints, relief from long term pain and disease and victory over spiritual darkness. The ministry team ministered in power and love with the laying on of hands after each service. The team saw hundreds of healings and deliverances during ministry throughout the week, which increased their faith and confidence in praying for the sick! Unlike in some parts of the world, it was the exception when those prayed for weren't healed.
Hundreds of leaders and pastors received powerful teaching and impartations during the daily evening sessions. Tom Jones ministered on how to receive Words of Knowledge and on the 5-step prayer model, as well as how to steward the gifts of God. It was a joy to see the Colombian church grow in knowledge and confidence as they themselves received words of knowledge and healed the sick!
The daytime hours were packed with ministry opportunities at the Children's Center and around town at city parks and homes where we ministered God's love to the homeless as well as the general population. All night intercession and prayer walks laid the foundation for powerful prophetic and healing ministry to the people. The team saw God move in special ways amongst society's neediest – the drug addicted and spiritually oppressed. No one gives these folks the time of day, yet we were privileged to spend hours loving on them and praying for emotional and physical healing. The atmosphere of the city parks we visited was truly transformed by the presence of Jesus in us as we called out the treasure in each individual for whom we prayed.
At the Viento Fresco Children's Center, the team was able to bless hundreds of kids with hugs and love. "Love tunnels" (aka fire tunnels) were made for kids, staff and team members to participate in. All were touched and some fell under the power and remained in the deep state of ecstasy for hours. The team also went out into the neighborhood and into the humble cave dwellings of some of the local families bringing words and touches of comfort, healing and salvation. The team got to see the strategic importance of touching the leaders and parents who in turn will touch the multitudes.
Just as the team started to show signs of tiredness, Tom and Jenn hosted an incredible "tourist day" for us. The bus took the team just outside Medellin to the famous Penon De Guatape rock and nearby village where the team enjoyed a stunning panoramic view from 6,000 feet. We also took a ferry ride and enjoyed an adventurous "zip lines" ride which ended with several of our team members hilariously "slamming" into a cushioned stop zone. We ended our day of refreshment with souvenir shopping and a fully authentic and delicious Colombian meal. The Lord topped the day off by allowing the team to bring Kingdom ministry to a member of the restaurant guitar player and singer – he was dramatically healed of a lame leg and got saved and delivered too!!!
At our celebration dinner the staff of Viento Fresco prayed for us and we got to see them honored as well by their incredible leaders, Tom and Jenn Atwater. Several of our Global team members testified of receiving new callings and anointings for ministry which they will take back with them. To put it simply, the FUEGO of God touched all of us in special ways and marked us permanently. The Global team felt like they received so much more than they gave, once again proving he truth of Jesus' words, "Give and it shall be given, pressed down, shaken together and running over!"
