My favorite one of the evenings was an older gentleman who was a native Taiwanese dentist that had studied for a few years in Boston. His wife came rushing over to ask whether I could come pray for him. He had a cancer tumor on his left jaw that was about the size of my fist. It had twisted his face completely. He could not talk, and his eyes were mostly closed because of the pain.
He and his wife were both Christians. I prayed for a long time over him – maybe 20 or 30 minutes. A great deal of the prayer was just worship. At about the halfway point, it seemed to me that the tumor had shrunk a bit, so I checked with his wife, and she agreed. He was able to communicate that the pain had left, and the area was numb. We agreed to keep praying. About 10-15 minutes later, the tumor had REALLY shrunk, and was almost gone. And he was talking! We were all so excited – He kept saying, “Szhe szhe!” (“Thank you!”) and wringing our hands. His eyes were sparkling, and he was very animated. His color had returned. It was a holy thing to watch the Lord work in this way for his son. ~Cynthia
