A young lady named Rebecca came up to me after hearing the message on the baptism of the Holy Spirit. I didn’t know who she was, and I didn’t know until today when her mother emailed me and told me her story at a deeper level. I would like to share that story first. So, the mother named Dora had lost a daughter. Dora was diagnosed with cancer, and her husband decided to leave. Within a year later, Rebecca was diagnosed with autism and pretty high on the spectrum. Again, I knew none of this initially when I met Rebecca.

During the prayer time, I asked the translator to ask what specifically she needed prayer for. I was told she wanted to speak in tongues and be baptized in the spirit, so, I prayed for her. Nothing happened. I prayed for her again and asked the translator to ask her to just start talking to God. And still nothing. I didn’t want to change the atmosphere of what I really believe God was doing. But that moment the Holy Spirit quickened into me, and I asked the translator to ask her what else she had prayer for, knowing in my heart that the Holy Spirit was gonna work on her in being baptized.

I was told that she wanted to be able to speak English and understand English. It’s like I put myself from the frying pan into the fire, so to speak. And I prayed for her. When I finished praying, I asked the translator to ask her what she was feeling. As I was asking the translator, the young girl had tapped me on the forearm, and in plain English said, “Why are you asking her? I understood everything you said.” All those that were around that heard this all began to weep, thanking God for what he just did.

We all know that God will continue to work on Rebecca, but I want to share this thought as well. After the prayer and after the discussion, I found out that a couple weeks earlier, with the diagnosis of autism, Rebecca came to a point where she tried to take her life. I know her mother, along with the Holy Spirit, had a lot to do with Rebecca not following through, but she did follow through in coming up for prayer.

I asked Dora, Rebecca‘s mother, if I could share this and she said yes, please.
