As a member of the May 2026 Basel, Switzerland ministry team, I witnessed several women begin their journey of healing from trauma. After the Global Awakening speaker, Valora Bock, shared her testimony of healing from PTSD, I had the opportunity to pray for two women who encountered God in significant ways.

First, a woman who sat near me throughout the conference received prayer for release from multiple traumatic incidents. I believe Valora’s God-story gave this woman permission to tell someone about what she endured. As I prayed for release from trauma, pain, fear, and rejection, she began to weep deeply. I held her as I prayed that the love of God flood her heart, displacing the pent-up pain and shame. She shared that she endured both childhood and church-related trauma. With the help of a ministry teammate who translated, the woman and I asked Jesus to take her shame and pain and give her His peace. Her countenance changed, her body relaxed, and she told me her name and asked for my name. I believe she received affirmation of her identity and belonging in Christ.

As I was ministering to this woman, another woman near us was shouting, “Jesus, give me Your heart. Jesus, give me Your heart.” This mournful request got my attention. I sensed she struggled with trauma-related pain as well. A ministry teammate was praying for her, so I asked my teammate about any progress and asked if it was ok if I joined her in praying for this woman. The Holy Spirit led me to bind spirits of trauma, death, rejection, and fear. I did so in a pretty firm way. I then asked the Lord to flood this woman with peace, displacing the darkness. She quieted and her body relaxed. I asked her what was coming to mind, what was going on in her body. She shared about struggles with sisters, many sisters. That prompted me to ask if her father was a polygamist. “Indeed,” she said, “He has many wives.” She also shared that she had been dedicated at birth to the family idol and pressured to become a priestess in the family idol worship. Her choice of following Christ had cost her much in her extended family. I prayed the blood of Jesus over her and asked Holy Spirit to flood her with peace, to begin the process of her healing journey out of trauma.

I followed up with the pastor’s wife, who inquired about the times of ministry with these women. It seems that Valora’s session made way for several women in this church to be seen, heard, validated, and invited to trust God for healing from trauma.
