Tonight, I had the privilege to minister to a deaf man. He needed healing for a pain on the left side of his abdomen and I offered to pray for him in sign, which I know a little of. Even though my sign language, ASL and his Brazilian Sign are a little bit different, I was able to bless him by praying for him healing in a language that he understood. Deaf culture is very closed off from hearing cultures, and I could tell that it blessed him that I had, as an American and a Christian, closed that gap. I prayed using what signs I knew and he told me that the pain was substantially better. Though the healing in his body was now 100%, the emotional impact that it made on his family and the translator was also miraculous. It is amazing how God prepared me for, and helped me during that very unique time of ministry.
