"A Heart Like Jesus"
Jesus is “gentle and humble in heart” (Mt 11:28, NIV). He displayed this heart when He sat with his disciples at the last supper. In His final teaching prior to the cross, Jesus modeled the humility of a servant. Jesus, the Lord and Teacher, rose from His seat of honor, took off His outer garments, tied a towel around His waist, and washed His disciples’ feet. It was an object lesson on true leadership. Knowing His authority and who He was, Jesus willingly chose to leave the place of honor and take the lowest position in the room. That’s the heart of our King.
When He finished His task, Jesus took His seat at the table and called His disciples into the same lifestyle of love and service. “Love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another” (Jn 13:34). It was a lesson His disciples would never forget.
