Freedom Devotional Day 3 | Renewed Imagination

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” -Hebrews 11:1

Imagination is the act or power of forming a mental image of something not present to the senses or never before known or wholly perceived in reality. It is the creative ability to believe without evidence. In today’s devotional video, Joanne Moody shares a powerful word about the ability of our renewed imagination to partner with the Holy Spirit in order to enter into the realm of hope-filled faith.

As citizens of the Kingdom of God, we are called to walk by faith and not by sight. We are called to pray for Heaven to manifest on earth. How can we pray in faith for things that we have never experienced or seen before? It is through the power of the renewed imagination. When we ask the Holy Spirit to partner with us to imagine God working in a situation, He births faith in us to believe for the impossible, no matter how hopeless the situation appears. As Joanne shared from her personal life, when she was believing the Lord to heal her from a crippling disability, she had to engage her faith to imagine herself running and doing things she couldn’t do. This imagination kept her in a place of faith for her healing when all the doctors’ reports were giving her hopeless news. As she said, You have to imagine to have hope, because hope based solely on knowledge will be without resilience when knowledge runs out.”

Activation & Prayer

What is an area of hopelessness in your life? Today, we invite you to ask the Holy Spirit to help you imagine Him working in that situation. This could be a situation in your health, your finances, your family, your job, or an area of breakthrough you long to see in ministry. Once you have the situation in mind, we invite you to pray this prayer:

Lord Jesus, I thank You that You are the author and the perfecter of my faith. I ask You to breathe on my imagination today by the power of the Holy Spirit. Please give me the gift of faith to imagine You moving in this situation. In Jesus’ name, I renounce hopelessness and unbelief, and I receive the gift of faith today to believe for the impossible. I pray for Your Kingdom to come and for Your will to be done in this situation in Jesus’ mighty name. Please renew my mind so that the impossible looks logical because there is nothing too hard for You, God! Amen.
